The buzz in the industry around Dharma Productions’ Drive was already negative. News was that Karan Johar was so disappointed with the film produced under his banner that he didn’t want to release it theatrically. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani of Dostana fame, Drive featuring Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez had been languishing Dharma’s cold storage till it was picked up by the OTT giant Netflix.

Netflix dropped Drive on its unsuspecting subscribers on 1 November, and the heist film got quite a reaction on social media from viewers, who described it as everything from “trash” to “pointless”. In his tweet, author and film critic Aseem Chhabra, compared the content being provided by Netflix US to what was being acquired by Netflix India.

Another writer and film critic, Anna Vetticad, responded by saying that the awful quality of several straight-to-Netflix films wasn’t just restricted to India.

However, a majority of Twitter users appeared to be totally miffed and termed Drive as one of the “worst” films they’ve ever seen and also slammed it’s amateur VFX and animation bits. Catch some of the Twitter reactions to Drive below:
