Salman Khan Gives Sridevi a Smashing Introduction as ‘Mom’

Sridevi’s ‘MOM’ look is quite the contrast to her ‘English Vinglish’ avatar.

Five years after English Vinglish, Sridevi is back in the lead role of the upcoming film Mom. Sridevi, quite obviously, will be playing the titular role and the poster hints at the film being a dramatic-thriller. Salman Khan was also present at the launch of the film’s bold first look, and according to a leading daily, was all praises about the legendary actor.

Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar... we have all done many films. Aamir may have done about 50 films - he has a lot of time, as he does only one film per year; Shah Rukh may have done more than 100 films. Put together, we may have all done about 250-275 films. But there is one legend who is very talented, dedicated, hardworking and professional. She completed 300 films, after starting her career as a child artiste. Our work cannot even be compared to this legend - she is none other than Sridevi!

Now that was quite an introduction. Sridevi looks like quite the badass in this glimpse from the Ravi Udyawar film as reports suggest that she’s playing the part of a lawyer in the film. As she looks into the distance wearing an unforgivingly look, the word ‘mother’ written in various scripts and languages surround her.

The film is set to release on 14 July and also stars Akshaye Khanna, Abhimanyu Singh, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui (in a special appearance). Pakistani actors Sajal Aly and Adnan Siddiqui reportedly play Sridevi’s daughter and husband in the Boney Kapoor production. Mom is apparently based on a woman's difficult relationship with her step-daughter, as she fights against the injustice done to her.

We cant wait to watch Sridevi in this strong role, which could be a good contrast to her character in Gauri Shinde’s English Vinglish.
