Ayushmann Khurrana’s Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan and Vicky Kaushal’s Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship clash at the box office this weekend. While Ayushmann has a string of hits behind him, it’s the first time Vicky is venturing into the horror genre.
Current estimates state that the opening weekend collections for both the films could be a close brush. Movie business analyst Atul Mohan says that Bhoot is expected to make “Rs 4-5 crore” on its opening day, while the Ayushmann-starrer could make “Rs 5-6 crore”.
If successful, this will be Khurrana’s 8th consecutive hit at the box-office. His last hits including Bala, Dream Girl, Article 15, Badhaai Ho and more have had a dream run at the box office.
Vicky too will be entering a risky terrain with his first horror film, and it is also Dharma Productions first-ever franchise. After the 2005 film Kaal, which tanked at the box office, this will Karan Johar’s next horror feature film.
So who will win over the box office?
