This year’s Bollywood actors roundtable by Rajeev Masand has talents like Ayushmann Khurrana, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna and Vijay Verma attending. An excerpt from the show has the actors discussing which roles are they waiting to be offered. Taking off on this point, Ayushmann declared that he’s sure that all of them would be excited and looking to do something that another actor has just done.
To this Shahid Kapoor says he would have loved to do a film like Gully Boy, “I would love to do a film about a rap star coming up from Dharavi, that’s such an amazing space”. Ayushmann then asks Shahid if would he do a character who is affected by erectile disfunction, a role that he played in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, and Shahid says, “I would be happy, I know I called you and said something and you told me you wouldn’t do a film like that...,” on being prodded by Masand if Shahid would do it, the Kabir Singh actor says, “Why not? maybe he (Ayushmann) was the one who had the guts to be the first one to do it, but now that he’s done it, it makes me feel like, why didn’t I do it? We have to learn from each other like that. Vicky Donor was the first time he did it and I loved that film.”
Shahid then returns to talk about Ranveer’s role in Gully Boy and says, “I love that fact that when he’s doing his performances, he’s actually rapping that sh*t. Because I hate the fact that somebody else has sung and I feel like a faker.”
