The audience has lapped up the Rajkumar Hirani directorial film. The Sanjay Dutt biopic is a massive hit that has waltzed into the Rs 300 crore club, leaving the lifetime business of 3 Idiots far behind when it crossed the Rs 200 crore mark. Its remarkable run at the box office continues with its total collection at about Rs 339.75 crore. The Ranbir starrer even surpassed the lifetime business of Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai. The other two films that make the toppers list are Baahubali 2 (Hindi version, Rs 510.98 crore) and Dangal (387.38 crore).
Sanju created a new record at the box-office by collecting Rs 46.71 crore on Sunday, making it the highest single day collection by an Indian film. This record was previously held by Baahubali 2 which raked in Rs 46.50 cr. With this record collection, the 3-day weekend earning of Sanju was Rs 120.06 crore. The Sanjay Dutt biopic collected Rs 34.75 crore on day one and its day two earnings were Rs 38.60 crore.
The film raked in Rs 167.51 crore in 5 days, with ticket sales showing no signs of dipping even on weekdays.
The day one box office collection of the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju stands at Rs 34.75 crores, thus marking the biggest opening for a film in 2018, so far.
As the film surpasses several milestones, it remains to be seen if Sanju manages to collect more than Rajkumar Hirani’s highest grosser, PK. Or even Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which remains the biggest grosser in Hindi language after Baahubali.
