Salman Khan’s films are designed to be larger than life with very little emphasis on believability. So you go into the theatre with the expectation that Salman can do anything, so don’t question anything!

But in Bharat, which released on June 5, director Ali Abbas Zafar writes in sequences that could actually qualify as ridiculous.

To make the film palpable for Bhai fans and masses, director Ali Abbas Zafar, weaves in one heroic moment of Bharat after another, with other characters applauding him each time. If Ali was going for The Forest Gump kind of storytelling, it just didn’t work. That requires deft writing.

Some of his scenes with Katrina were the only moments of respite from the constant heroism.

In this week’s episode of Reel Deal, we talk about some of the most ridiculous things in Bharat because those are the funnest part of the film.

Despite mixed reviews the film went on to earn around Rs 42 crore on opening day and the numbers dropped to around Rs 31 crore on the second day. Its a great opening, thanks to Salman Khan’s star power.

We will have to wait till the end of the weekend to know if the film has enough legs to go on and become a blockbuster, as the budget of the film is said to be around Rs 150 crore.
