The final trailer for Saif Ali Khan’s upcoming film Laal Kaptaan has been released. The new clip, titled Chapter 3 - The Revenge, is the longest so far. It reveals more of the film’s plot and Manav Vij’s character who is the target of Saif’s bloodthirsty quest for vengeance.

Check out the full trailer below.

An earlier short clip, titled Chapter 1 - The Hunt, introduced us to Saif’s character with a menacing voiceover that says, “Aadmi ke paeda hote hi, kaal apne bhaise pe chal padta hai... use vaapas libane (As soon as a man is born, Yamraj [the Hindu god of death] mounts his ox and begins a journey to bring the man back).”

Dressed in a red coat and white trousers with his hair in dreadlocks, he is seen riding a horse while dragging a body behind him. You also get glimpses of him slaying other men with his sword, while a voiceover by Sonakshi Sinha calls him Bhole Ka Sipahi (Lord Shiva’s soldier) and then a bhoot (ghost). As many pointed out when photos of Saif on set leaked earlier, his costume seems to be inspired by Captain Jack Sparrow of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Laal Kaptaan is directed by Navdeep Singh and produced by Aanand L Rai. The film also stars Manav Vij, Zoya Hussain, Deepak Dobriyal and Simone Singh. Sonakshi Sinha makes a special appearance though details of her character are under wraps. “It’s a special appearance but a pivotal one. I’ll leave her part as a mystery. All I’ll say is she’s the most glamorous thing in the film,” Navdeep said in a statement.

The story is reportedly set in a “tumultuous era of Indian history” and will be a story of drama, revenge and deceit. According to Rai it is “that kind of film that is definitely going to generate a genre and narrative style of its own.” Saif had earlier told DNA that the film was his most ambitious till date. “It’s about a fight between two brothers and my character, who’s almost like an animal, fights for his rights,” he explained.

Laal Kaptaan releases on 18 October.
