Saif Ali Khan and Aamir Khan are reportedly set to feature in the Hindi remake of 2017 Tamil hit Vikram Vedha, which starred R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi. The story is a modern day take on the folk tale of Raja Vikramaditya and the spirit Betal, where Vikram is a cop in hot pursuit of a criminal named Vedha. Though the cop manages to capture him several times, Vedha always slips away after distracting him with a captivating story from his life. Aamir will reportedly play Vedha with Saif as the righteous cop.
The Hindi remake will be helmed by husband-wife duo Pushkar-Gayathri, who had directed the original, and backed by S Sashikanth’s Y NOT Studios and Plan C Studios, which is a collaboration between Reliance Entertainment and Neeraj Pandey’s Friday Filmworks. The film is expected to go on floors by March 2020.
Aamir Khan is currently working on Laal Singh Chadha, the official Hindi remake of 1994 Hollywood classic Forrest Gump. The film is being directed by Advait Chandan and also stars Kareena Kapoor. It will hit theatres on Christmas 2020. Saif Ali Khan has a few films in the pipeline, including Jawaani Janeman, with Tabu, and Aanand L Rai directorial Laal Kaptan, in which he plays a naga sadhu.
