In the run up to the trailer, the makers of Bhumi Pednekar- and Taapsee Pannu-starrer Saand Ki Aankh have released a teaser for the film, which introduces their characters sharpshooters Chandro Tomar and her sister-in-law Prakashi Tomar.
Watch it here:
Residents of Johri village in Uttar Pradesh, Chandro and Prakashi made history by becoming the world’s oldest and second-oldest sharpshooters, respectively. They started learning how to shoot in 1999-2000 when they were in their 60s. Together the octogenarians have won over 50 national championships and have gone on to train many shooters in the last decade and a half.
Saand Ki Aankh has been directed by Tushar Hiranandani and produced by Anurag Kashyap. It is slated to release during Diwali this year. The film was originally titled Womaniya but was renamed after since the title was already registered with Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd. In February, Kashyap claimed that the company had asked for Rs 1 crore in compensation to part with the title, a move he termed as “extortion”. Pritish Nandy responded to his allegations saying, “Both IMPPA (Indian Motion Pictures Producer’s Association) and FMC (Film Makers Combine) have written to Anurag Kashyap several times asking him not to use the title Womaniya illegally since it’s owned by PNC.”
