The trailer of Bhumi Pednekar, Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday-starrer Pati, Patni Aur Woh has finally dropped. The video begins with Chintu Tyagi (Kartik Aaryan) lamenting to Aparshakti Khurrana that his father had tricked him into getting married at a young age. He sure loves his wife (Bhumi Pednekar), but when Tapasya (Ananya Panday) steps into Chintu’s life, his loyalties shift in seconds.

The trailer is full of jokes that are not funny at all. There’s a sequence wherein Kartik tells his friend that if a man requests for sex from his wife he is labelled a bhikari, if he does not have sex he is an atyachari and if somehow he manages to do a jugaad he is branded a balatkari. At a time when women characters are given equal importance this regressive dialogue takes us back a 1,000 years. Sure, we hear Bhumi in the beginning saying she loves sex, but is that enough?

Just before the trailer, a video clip had been released on social media, wherein Kartik Aaryan gives us a peek into his character. He begins by saying, “Let us introduce you to Chintu Tyagi.” “Chintu Tyagi has been married off early, so he is cute and well-built. However, he is not happy with his wife. Chintu’s world turns upside down when ‘woh’ enters his life,” Kartik says.

Pati, Patni Aur Woh is a remake of the BR Chopra classic by the same name. Speaking about the relevance of such an old story, Ananya Panday had said, “The generation of that decade could relate to it, and today's generation will associate with our version of the film.”

Ananya also spoke about how the new film will be different from the old one, especially in its treatment of women characters. “In the past characters of women weren’t as strong as they are today. In our film, Bhumi and I have prominent roles,” said Ananya.

She further added that the characters have evolved and the representation will be much different. She said, “Our characters are more developed (than those in the original)(You'll see that) through our dialogues as well. Showcasing empowered women is inspirational.”

The new film is directed by Mudassar Aziz and will hit theatres on 6 December.
