Ranveer Singh announced the grand arrival of Padmavati’s first look, his upcoming Sanjay Leela Bhansali film co-starring Deepika Padukone in the titular role. But the Rajput outfit Karni Sena are playing trouble makers again. The group replied to Ranveer’s tweet suggesting that if their revered queen is shown in questionable light, the film and its makers will be made to suffer.
During the film’s early days, members of the Karni Sena had roughed up the critically acclaimed director on location in Jaipur and also vandalised props and sets. Several reports suggested that the sena have objected to a certain romantic dream sequence between Alauddin Khilji and Rani Padmini, hurting Rajput sentiments. Bhansali has repeatedly clarified that there's no such scene in Padmavati, but the sena won’t be convinced till the film hits theatres.
Though a compromise of sorts was reportedly struck between Bhansali and the sena, it seems that the situation might still be volatile as the film approaches its December 1st release date.
