Actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has sent a legal notice to a popular film magazine Filmfare accusing them of defamation. The notice terms that an article published in the magazine dated 8th March 2017, shows a photograph of Nawazuddin with an ‘unknown woman’ and thereby portraying her as his wife, which leads people to conclude that the actor has separated from his wife.

The notice goes on to say that the article has caused Nawazuddin “unwarranted and uncalled for mental torture, trauma and inconvenience”, as the actor is being asked “ridiculous questions” about his marriage by “all and sundry”.

Nawazuddin has asked for an apology from the magazine and demanded that they carry an article clarifying the matter within 7 days. When contacted by The Quint, Nawazuddin’s lawyer, Rizwan Siddiquee said that they are yet to receive a response from Filmfare following the legal notice.
