As a result of the #MeToo movement that’s raging online in India, the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) which organises the annual Mumbai Film Festival has dropped Rajat Kapoor’s film Kadakh and AIB’s first film as producers, Chintu Ka Birthday, from their line up for the upcoming festival. This decision comes after allegations of sexual misconduct were raised against filmmaker Rajat Kapoor and members of AIB by various women online.

The Mumbai Film Festival made this announcement via a tweet on Monday night.

The Mumbai Film Festival is being held from 25 October to 1 November and both these films were to be screened at the festival under the India Story section which showcases independent Indian cinema.

Chintu Ka Birthday directed by Satyanshu and Devanshu Singh, was AIB’s first attempt at film production. Tanmay Bhat had tweeted about the film premiering at the Mumbai Film Festival recently.
