‘Mulk’ Trailer Raises Tough Questions About Religious Perceptions

Taapsee Pannu returns with a courtroom drama alongside Rishi Kapoor in Anubhav Sinha directorial, Mulk. The trailer, which released on 9 July, asks tough questions about the identity of Muslims in India and the perception of ‘looking like a Muslim’. Taapsee (Aarti Mohammad) is shown as the legal representative of her client, Rishi Kapoor (Murad Ali Mohammad) with Ashutosh Rana, the prosecution lawyer, returning in a negative role. Mulk begins with a terror blast that leads to Rishi Kapoor’s son (played by Prateik Babbar) becoming a prime suspect. It goes on to show how the family struggles to fight perceptions about their faith.

Directed by Anubhav Sinha, Mulk also stars Rajat Kapoor, Manoj Pahwa and Neena Gupta. The film is co-produced by Anubhav Sinha and Deepak Mukut.

Mulk releases on 3 August.
