It’s neither Kangana Ranaut nor Deepika Padukone, but a total newcomer named Malavika Mohanan who has been chosen to play the lead in acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Majid Madiji’s new film, Beyond The Clouds, set in India.
There was a lot of buzz around who will be playing the female lead role in the film, as celebrated names like Deepika and Kangana were said to have auditioned for it. But it looks like it is theatre actress and renowned cinematographer KU Mohanan’s daughter, Malavika, who has impressed the director.
Beyond The Clouds, which centres around a brother-sister relationship, will also mark the debut of Shahid Kapoor’s brother, Ishaan Khattar who has been working on the film since a month now.
If, Majidi, the man behind gems like Children of Heaven, The Color of Paradise and Baran, has chosen Malavika over the likes of Deepika and Kangana, it sure looks like the actress has a promising future in the world of cinema.
