Sajid Nadiadwala’s reincarnation comedy, Housefull 4, which released this year on Diwali, has become the highest-grossing film of the franchise. To celebrate the success, Sajid and his wife Warda hosted a bash for the film’s cast at their residence. Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Kriti Sanon, Abhishek Bachchan, Riteish Deshmukh and his wife Genelia, Pooja Hegde, Kriti Kharbanda and Chunkey Pandey were present.
Sajid even hinted at a fifth instalment. Akshay also dropped a cryptic clue. “ Last night was a #Housefull of fun with friends from Housefull 1, 2, 3 and 4. Gearing up for 5? I don’t know,” he wrote on Instagram.
According to a report by Mumbai Mirror, Sajid wants to create a Housefull universe and plans on bringing together all the principal characters of the previous franchises.
Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, one of Ekta Kapoor’s longest running TV shows, is set to go off air soon. However, there is some exciting news for fans. The daily soap will be followed by a spin-off, Yeh Hai Chahatein. Sargun Kaur Luthra has been roped in as the female lead, while Abrar Qazi, who was last seen in Sajid Ali’s Laila Majnu, will play her love interest.
The original story explored a relationship between a Tamil dentist, Dr Ishita Iyer, and a Punjabi businessman, Dr Raman Bhalla as they come together to raise the latter’s daughter. The spin-off will be a new-age love story.
Director Priyadarshan and Akshay Kumar, who have worked on hit comedies like Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and De Dana Dana, will reportedly start working on a film later next year. The director told PTI that he is currently writing a comedy and will start work on it around September-October next year.
Priyadarshan is currently working on his Bollywood comeback Hungama 2. The film marks his first Hindi movie after 2013's Rangrezz. Hungama 2, he said, is not a direct sequel to the 2003 film but has a same spirit. “The lead pair will be confirmed in a week or so. Shilpa Shetty is also making a comeback with this film,” he said.
