'Aquaman' Becomes DC Comics' Biggest Movie
James Wan's "Aquaman" has become the highest grossing film based on a DC Comics character.
According to forbes.com, the Jason Momoa-Amber Heard underwater adventure has now earned $316.5 million in the domestic US market, putting it right between "Iron Man 2" ($312 million in 2010) and "Iron Man" ($318 million in 2008).
The big "Aquaman" news came as the adventure film has earned over $1.085 billion worldwide, putting it past the unadjusted global totals ($1.084 billion in 2012, sans 3-D) of Chris Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises".
"Aquaman" is not just the biggest DC Films project in worldwide box office (having passed "Batman v Superman" $873 million number), it is the biggest DC Comics movie ever. With $1.09 billion thus far, it is the 25th biggest grosser of all time, reports forbes.com.
FIR Filed Against Zubeen Garg for Allegedly Abusing Bharat Ratna
Assamese singer Zubeen Garg, best known in Bollywood for hits like ‘Ya Ali’, has gotten caught in a controversy due to a viral audio clip attributed to him. In the clip, Zubeen is allegedly heard insulting India’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna. The Ratna was last awarded to the late musician Bhupen Hazarika, who also hails from Assam.
Since Hazarika had passed away recently, many fans were celebrating the Bharat Ratna and upset at Zubeen’s alleged abuse of the same. An FIR has been lodged in Lanka in the Hojai district against Zubeen by Satya Ranjan Borah, who is a Bharatiya Janata Party functionary. Read more here.
Esha Gupta Slammed for Racist Comment on Nigerian Footballer, Apologises
Actress and Arsenal supporter Esha Gupta has been called out on social media for making racist remarks on Nigerian footballer Alexander Iwobi.
The social media was abuzz as a snapshot of a Whatsapp conversation that Esha shared on her Instagram stories. The conversation criticised Iwobi for his performance.
In the conversation, Esha's friend called Iwobi a "gorilla" and said that "evolution stopped for him".
To that, Esha replied: "Haha... I don't know why they don't bench him more."
This did not go down well with some fans, who slammed her for her "ignorance" and called her out for being racist despite having claimed she herself has been a victim in the past.
After the backlash, Esha took to Twitter to apologise.
‘Black Panther’, Rami Malek, Glenn Close Win Big at SAG Awards
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards here saw Marvel Studios' Black Panther taking the best cast ensemble prize, while Rami Malek and Glenn Close emerged as best actors.

Vidya Balan to Make Tamil Debut With 'Pink' Remake
Actor Vidya Balan, last seen on screen in Telugu film NTR Kathanayakudu, will be making her Tamil debut via upcoming yet-untitled Tamil remake of Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer Pink reports IANS.
The film's producer Boney Kapoor, who is foraying into southern filmdom with this project, said in a statement that Vidya has been paired opposite Ajith Kumar in the remake being directed by H. Vinoth. The shoot is underway in Hyderabad.
"Happy to introduce Vidya Balan to Tamil audiences. She is paired with Ajith and her role is very special. Shraddha Srinath has also been roped in for a pivotal role. Rangaraj Pandey plays a very important character," Kapoor said in the statement.
The film also stars Adhik Ravichandran, Arjun Chidambaram, Abhirami Venkatachalam, Andrea Tariang, Aswin Rao and Sujith Shankar among others. Apparently, it was late Sridevi's wish that Ajith does a film in her husband's production.

Omung Kumar’s biopic on Narendra Modi goes on floors today. The film will be shot across various locations in Gujarat. The film stars Vivek Anand Oberoi as Narendra Modi alongside Boman Irani and Darshan Kumaar.
