'Ko Ko Karina' Cover on Coke Studio Pakistan Causes Outrage

A cover of ‘Ko Ko Korina’, touted as the first true Pakistani pop song, performed on music show Coke Studio has sparked a furore amidst netizens in Pakistan. In a first of sorts, Pakistan's Human Rights Minister Shireen Mazari also jumped on the bandwagon to diss the song as a "massacre" of the classic song.

Others who commented include up and coming actor Ahad Raza Mir, who invoked Spiderman’s uncle Ben; Shahbaz Taseer, son of a murdered Pakistani politician; and Express Tribune writer, Rafay Mahmood.

Aamir Khan Makes an Appearance on 'KBC'

Ahead of the release of Thugs of Hindostan, its lead actors Aamir Khan and Amitabh Bachchan reunited on the small screen. Aamir Khan shot for reality TV game show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC), hosted by Bachchan.

"What an exciting day I have had! Just finished shooting for KBC with Mr Bachchan. Had so much fun. Sir, sorry for all my requests! Couldn't control myself," tweeted Khan.

Telugu Hit 'Arjun Reddy' Hindi Remake to Be Called 'Kabir Singh'

It has been confirmed that Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy will be remade in Hindi under the title Kabir Singh. The film will star Shahid Kapoor, who will supposedly sport four different looks, and Kiara Advani. It will be produced by T-Series and Cine1 Studios and Sandeep Vanga, the director of the original film, will also direct this version.

20th MAMI Film Festival Kicks off in Mumbai

The 20th Jio Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) Mumbai Film Festival started on Thursday night on an emotional note, expressing solidarity with the #MeTooMovement. Calling it a “profound collective reckoning”, festival director Anupama Chopra said at the opening ceremony, "We are starting the festival with conflicted emotions, in solidarity with the #MeTooMovement. We decided to exclude certain films from the festival."

Hosted by actor Kalki Koechlin, the ceremony was graced by Karan Johar, Anil Kapoor, Zoya Akhtar, Radhika Apte, Soha Ali Khan, Diana Penty, Vishal Bhardwaj, Radhika Apte, Tabu to international filmmaker Sean Baker, Thom Noble, Lucrecia Martel among others.

The festival honoured the iconic filmmaker Shyam Benegal with the Excellence In Cinema Award.

Salim-Sulaiman Offer to Compose Song for 'Indian Idol' Contestant

Renu Nagar, a contestant who is part of the top eight on season 10 of music reality show Indian Idol, has been offered a song by composers Salim and Sulaiman Merchant.

"Renu has an incredible voice, which is really powerful and all the music directors are always in search of such a unique voice. You have a new and distinct voice and we would love to compose a new song for you," Salim Merchant said. "The more love and power that you give to your voice, you'll get better. We would love it if you sing a song for us," he added.

Salim and Sulaiman were guest judges on the show alongside singer Neha Kakkar and singer-composer Vishal Dadlani. The brothers joined the jury panel for upcoming episodes after it was announced that singer Anu Malik, who has been accused of sexual misconduct, would no longer be part of the show.

Sacred Games star Kubbra Sait says she is "super excited" to be part of Alankrita Shrivastavas’ Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, reports IANS.

"One always looks for the opportunity to take up interesting work that challenges you as an actor. Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare is an interesting subject and I'm super excited to be part of it," Sait said in a statement.

Directed by Shrivastava and produced by Ekta Kapoor, the coming-of-age story also features Bhumi Pednekar and Konkona Sen Sharma.

India's Meenakshi Chaudhary Is First Runner-Up at Miss Grand International 2018

India's Meenakshi Chaudhary narrowly missed out from being crowned Miss Grand International 2018 at the sixth edition of the pageant.

Held in Myanmar, Chaudhary was edged out by Paraguay's Clara Sosa for the top honour. Sosa succeeds Miss Grand International 2017 Maria Jose Lora of Peru.

Chaudhary was adjudged the first runner-up while Indonesia's Nadia Purwoko was declared the second runner-up.

Puerto Rico's Nicole Colon and Japan's Haruka Oda were announced as third and fourth runner-ups respectively.

In a statement, Chaudhary said: "I would like to thank everyone who has supported me in my journey right from the time I participated in fbb Colors Femina Miss India 2018 to then winning the title of fbb Colors Femina Miss Grand India 2018 and now being crowned as Miss Grand International 2018 1st runner up."

'Hichki' Crosses Rs 100 Crore In China

Rani Mukerji-starrer “Hichki” has raced past the Rs 100 crore-mark in China since releasing on October 12, according to its production banner Yash Raj Films.

The film features the actress as a determined teacher who changes lives of innocent students from economically backward strata for the better while dealing with her own nervous system disorder Tourette Syndrome.

It is a blockbuster in China with it racing past the Rs 100 crore-mark. Audiences in the country have loved Rani’s exceptional acting and it has been recording extremely strong collections since its release, read a statement.

“Good cinema has no language barriers and it connects with the hearts and minds of the audience. The success of ‘Hichki’ in China proves just that,” Rani said.

“We knew we had made a special film but for it to get so much love and acclaim from audiences across the globe is an extremely proud and humbling moment for all of us,” she added.

She congratulated producer Maneesh Sharma and director Siddharth P. Malhotra for “creating a gem of a film whose universal message of love has been melting the hearts of audiences in China now”.

“Hichki” was titled “Teacher with Hiccup” for its Chinese release. Rani had promoted the film extensively across leading Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Chengdu.
