‘Laila Majnu’ Teaser: Can Imtiaz Ali Recreate the Magic Again?

The new ‘Laila Majnu’ is directed by Imtiaz Ali’s brother Sajid Ali.

The teaser of Imtiaz Ali and Ekta Kapoor’s joint venture Laila Majnu is out. The film is a modern day retelling of the classic love story of Laila – Majnu. No, the film is not directed by Imtiaz Ali but by his younger brother Sajid Ali. Imtiaz has co-written the film along with brother Sajid and is presenting it.

This is not the first time that Bollywood has made a film based on the legendary love story of Laila and Majnu. HS Rawail’s Laila Majnu back in 1976 featuring Rishi Kapoor and Ranjeeta in the lead was a huge hit.

Set in Kashmir, the new Laila Majnu teaser gives us a glimpse into the world of its characters and the promise of love, that’s lasts forever. But it doesn’t reveal the faces of the actors, thus creating some amount of curiosity. The teaser of Laila Majnu will also be attached to Veere Di Wedding that has hit theatres on 1st June.

Laila Majnu, which is presented by Imtiaz Ali and produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Motion Pictures and PI Films, is scheduled to release on 24 August, 2018.
