Recently, a report by Asian Age quoted sources as saying that Kangana Ranaut wasn’t happy with her character arc in her upcoming film Mental Hai Kya after she saw the footage. “She also felt Rajkummar Rao got more prominence in a lot of scenes. Kangana wanted to re-shoot those scenes”, the source said.

Now, Rangoli Chandel has come out in support of her sister, alleging that the nepotism gang was behind these rumours. She took to Twitter to write, “ Everytime nepo gang wants to harm Kangana’s career they make such articles viral, truth is every director isn’t looking to baby sit a thumb twiddling dumb star kid, some rather have a partner who is watching their back”.

She continued to lash out, saying that Kangana had to push aside her directorial venture to accommodate new-age filmmakers who are hoping to get a breakthrough in Bollywood. “She is one of those rare actresses who has given break to directors like Aanand L Rai, Vikas Bahl...”, Rangoli wrote.

Director Prakash Kovelamudi has, however, refuted all these claims. He told Hindustan Times that Mental Hai Kya has been shot without any negativity. “Both Kangana Ranaut and Rajkummar Rao have brought their energy to the film and they are fantastic to work with. The entire process was collaborative. The shift in the release date of the film was made keeping in mind the business perspective. Any other conjecture is baseless and untrue”, Prakash Kovelamudi said.

Mental Hai Kya has been embroiled in controversies. It was supposed to clash with Hrithik-Roshan starrer Super 30. The makers of Mental Hai Kya had shifted their film’s release date from 21 June, the same day Super 30 was supposed to release. However, the latter got a new release date and will hit theatres on 12 July, two weeks earlier than originally planned.

Hrithik Roshan had issued a statement on social media about the shift in the release date of Super 30, saying that he wished to save it from being “desecrated by yet another media circus”. “I have decided to shift the release date of my film Super 30 in order to save myself from the personal trauma and toxic mental violence this would cause,” he added.
