Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika, which released earlier this year, may not have got the kind of attention it deserves in India according to the actor. However, internationally it’s finally being lauded. Manikarnika: the Queen of Jhansi has been selected for the Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival and Kangana is ecstatic.
Here’s what she told Pinkvilla about the recent success of her film:
The actor also spoke about how this is a big slap on the “movie mafia’s” face.
“The movie mafia tried to kill this film but for Manikarnika to get commercial success and now international recognition along with other celebrated films is a big slap on movie mafia’s face. You can’t stop a good film especially in this time and age when the world is all one big family because of social media,” she added.
Ever since Kangana made an appearance on Indian talk show Koffee with Karan, she has been taking potshots at many actors from the film industry. She also accused the film fraternity of not supporting the release of her film Manikarnika, despite them extending support towards other films like Gully Boy. She is also one of the few actors who initially spoke up about nepotism in Bollywood.
Recently, Kangana’s sister Rangoli Chandel took to Twitter to say that Kangana has said no to many films starring prominent actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Aamir Khan. “ Kangana has willingly said no to Khan films, YRF films, Bhansali, Kumar( Singh is Bling), Devgan(Baadshaaho), Kapoor( Sanju)films, if she had done all these she would have made to all popularity lists, she chose the path less travelled...”, Rangoli wrote.
