Even as Simran is off to a slow start at the box office, new reports of a serious rift between Kangana Ranaut and director Hansal Mehta during the shoot of the film in Atlanta have surfaced.
According to Huffington Post, who has accessed some “leaked” messages between Kangana and the film’s writer Apurva Asrani, things got so sour between Hansal and Kangana that the director didn’t even visit the sets for days.
While Kangana Ranaut and Hansal Mehta have been nothing but mutually admiring in public, the leaked messages suggest otherwise. Apparently there were constant arguments on the sets between the two and Hansal’s son Jai was flown down to handle the reins. Jai too couldn’t handle the actor being in charge. Kangana, who openly admits to “collaborating” with her director on every scene, reportedly even directed other actors in a scene leading to Hansal’s not coming to the sets altogether.
According to a “leaked message”, Kangana wrote to Apruva on 8 March:
Kangana reportedly told Apurva that Hansal had abandoned the Rs 30 crore-project.
According to Apurva, Hansal gave in to Kangana’s whims and fancies as he later gave in to her demands for Simran’s writing credits.
One helluva mess this.
