What a week it’s been. Monsoon fury lashes Mumbai yet again. Prime Minister Narendra Modi carried out the third major reshuffle in his cabinet. Kaun Banega Crorepati 9 made a comeback after three years. But guess what returned from the graveyard of controversies? Kangana Ranaut and Hrithik Roshan’s Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani.
It was during her interview with Rajat Sharma in Aap Ki Adalat that Kangana dared to unlock the Pandora’s Box. The Queen fearlessly faced every question Rajat Sharma fired her way. From black magic to Aditya Pancholi, nepotism to Hrithik Roshan. You name it, she answered ’em all.
Rajat Sharma was not the only interview she faced like a charging bull. In another of Kangana’s interviews, Barkha Dutt insisted and persisted in asking her only to speak against Aditya Pancholi, Adhyayan Suman and Hritik Roshan, whereas Rajeev Masand carefully crafted his questions and spoke about other topical issues. But we saved the best for the last – Anupama Chopra in the beginning of her interview gave a disclaimer that this interview is NOT going to be about the Pancholis and the Roshans. Thank God for some saving grace on the telly!
So these were the four explosive interviews given by Kangana in a span of one week, where three interviews featured nepotism, Pancholi and the Roshan parivar. In short, Bollywood ki toh watt lag gayi and media ki lottery lag gayi.
So what was the response to Kangana frankly fielding questions she’s been asked? A few commentators called her ‘mad’ whereas some like Sona Mohapatra on her Facebook post asked Kangana Ranaut not to wash her dirty linen in public.
Many publications called it a PR stunt:
One headline read “Why Kangana Ranaut should stick to talking about films in place of Hrithik Roshan”
Yet another said “Publicity stunt: Kangana Ranaut reopens Hrithik Roshan saga just days before Simran’s release, demands Hrithik’s apology”
But why not? Why can’t Kangana talk about Hrithik Roshan? This is my question, to all those who raise their eyebrows each time the actor speaks about her la affair out in the open.
What are we slamming her for? For being in love with the wrong person?
Or
For taking her once upon-a-time lover head on in a legal battle?
Or
For being a motor-mouth diva?
Damn you, patriarchy! The woman fought a legal battle. She was called a whore, an egoistic monster and what have you. Hrithik’s overworked PR machinery accused Kangana of having Asperger’s Syndrome. Hrithik had an army of Bollywood A-list celebs who came out all guns blazing in favour of Duggu, including ex-wife Sussanne.
But who did Kangana have for support? A few defaming articles, some nepotism controversies and the ghost of her “silly exes” haunting her and hunting her down.
Give the lady a break. If she has had a bad relationship, then she has the right to talk about it as much as Hrithik Roshan had the right to send a legal notice. Why didn’t anyone question Hrithik’s intention when he spoke about the controversy near the release of Mohenjodaro in 2016? Where were these PR stunt-inspectors then?
Tum karo toh pyaar. Hum kare toh atyaachar!
Here’s to Kangana, the Wonder Woman fighting the Supermen of Bollywood. Khoob ladi mardani woh to dhaansu wali Rani thi.
