One of this year’s biggest releases, Dharma Productions’ Kalank is struggling at the box-office. The multi-starrer which released on Wednesday, 17 April, collected just Rs 11.60 crore at the ticket windows on Friday. The film’s collections on Thursday were Rs 11.45 crore and it did not register a big jump on Friday despite it being a holiday due to Good Friday. The total 3-day domestic box-office collection of Kalank stands at Rs 44.65 crore.

Abhishek Varman’s multi-starrer grand epic saga might have secured the highest opening in the box office in 2019 with Rs 21.6 crore, but Kalank does not seem to be doing too well from the second day onwards. There was a major dip in collection on the second day. According to trade analyst Taran Adarsh, Kalank has earned Rs 11.45 crore on Thursday, almost a 50% drop in the earnings from day one.

Taran wrote on Twitter, “#Kalank has a fall on Day 2... A decline was on the cards, but the drop is much higher than expected... Will be interesting to see how it fares on Day 3 [#GoodFriday]... Wed 21.60 cr, Thu 11.45 cr. Total: ₹ 33.05 cr. India biz.”

After the film’s release, Taran had tweeted that the film had started with a bang and that it was the highest opening for a film starring Varun Dhawan or Alia Bhatt.
