Mumbai Mirror reports that Ekta Kapoor is set to remake Karan Johar’s family drama Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham as a daily soap.

Teeming with stars, the film, which released in 2001, was Karan Johar's second film as director after 1998's Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Reportedly titled Dil Hi Toh Hai, the TV production could go on air on Sony in two months’ time.

“Bijoy Anand, who played Kajol’s wayward fiancé in the 1998 romcom Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha, has been cast to play Amitabh Bachchan’s patriarch, Yashvardhan Raichand, while Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi actress Erica Fernandes is in talks to play either Kajol’s talkative Anjali or her younger sister, Pooja (popularised by Kareena as ‘Poo’). The part will be finalised after a look test.”
A source told Mumbai Mirror

Speculation is rife that Rajat Tokas (of TV series Jodha Akbar fame) has been roped in to play Shah Rukh Khan’s character.
