Just like Abhinay Deo’s hilarious Delhi Belly, where an aberration spirals out of control, in Blackmail, Irrfan Khan’s plan to blackmail his wife’s lover takes unimaginable turns with some random claimants asking for their pieces of the pie. The two and a half minute long trailer tells you exactly what to expect - it’s all about ‘badla’.
It begins with Irrfan Khan telling someone in a bar about a man stumbling upon his wife cheating on him. The visuals that follow his narration unravel the fact that ‘the man’ is in fact him. He is telling his tale in the garb of a joke.
When a trailer does not try to be cryptic and reveals its cards, you can tell that the makers are honest and confident about the end product - the film.
The teaser itself hinted at a side-splitting ride. Add Irrfan’s deadpan sense of humour to the mix and the result could be an agreeably heady concoction. Been a while since we really laughed in a cinema hall, right?
The film also stars Kirti Kulhari, Arunoday Singh, Divya Dutta and Omi Vaidya. We even get a glimpse of the seasoned actor, who is always successful with eliciting laughs, in the smallest of roles - Gajraj Rao.
Blackmail is slated to hit the theatres on 6 April, 2018.

The baby girl, who we will refer to as 'Chhutki', was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin when her parents were away. She has been discharged from AIIMS hospital after undergoing three surgeries, but needs more medical treatment in order to heal completely. Her parents hail from a low-income group and have stopped going to work so that they can take care of the baby. You can help cover Chhutki's medical expenses and secure her future.
