Bollywood’s never-ending search for new promotional strategies leads it to many new doors. And one such costly sort of promotion is, roping in international celebs into movies.
The most recent instance is Shahrukh Khan and Pritam collaborating with American record producer and rapper, Diplo, for the song ‘Phurr’ from Jab Harry met Sejal. What was different about this song was Diplo’s EDM touch to the bhangra beats.
Let’s have a look on some similar collaborations from the past.
In Akshay Kumar-Kareena Kapoor starrer Kambakkht Ishq, Hollywood’s Rambo Sylvester Stallone, Superman star Brandon Routh and model Denise Richards did a cameo. The movie grabbed a lot of eyeballs because of the three international names.
Once again, it was our Khiladi who joined hands with an international star. In Akshay Kumar’s 2009 multi-starrer ‘Blue’, Australian singer and song writer Kylie Minogue sang and featured in the song chiggy-wiggy. The song soon became a rage among the audience and Kylie’s magic worked well.
He has done a similar things in the past that the audience won’t probably forget. Shahrukh’s mega-budget Superhero flick, ‘RaOne’, featured two songs by popular American singer, Akon. Akon sang two songs for the movie, Chammak Challo and Criminal, both of which became the ultimate party songs of the year.
Amitabh Bachchan and Oscar winning actor Ben Kingsley starred in the 2010 release ‘Teen Patti’. Two superstars from two different industries in one movie, this surely had to make a lot of news.
Mexican model and actress, Barbara Mori acted in Hrithik Roshan’s Kites. The movie created a lot of buzz because of Mori being the female lead. Hrithik and Barbara’s enticing chemistry was icing on the cake.
