Best known for her role in Dil Aashna Hai and Khoon Bhari Maang, Miss India 1985, Sonu Walia is the new victim of telephonic harassment.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Walia has been facing the brunt of cyber crime too. The actress, who has worked with the likes of Rekha and Kabir Bedi, lodged an FIR against an unknown person on Friday as she had been receiving vulgar phone calls and videos.

“The person had made several lewd phone calls to her and sent obscene videos. She said the harassment had been going on for a week, and she decided to approach the police when it showed no signs of stopping,” Bangur Nagar police said about Walia’s statement after having booked those involved under sections 354 of IPC and other sections of the IT act.

The 53-year-old actress spoke to India Today, mentioning how the caller was behind her since 10 months.

I don’t know how this person obtained my number. At first I thought it was some fan who was calling and messaging me but later the person started sending me obscene messages. The kind of messages that would be intolerable to any woman. There is a saying that if you tolerate injustice then you are party to it.

Walia also said that she tried warning the anonymous caller but that only created more trouble and increased the frequency of such calls and messages. The unknown caller started using different numbers which were later found to be ‘not operational’ by the police.
