Another poster of Richa Chadha’s upcoming film Shakeela has just been released, which has the actor looking sizzling in what seems to be a glass of alcohol. Richa took to social media to share the poster with the slogan: “HAVE A GREAT YEAR! #2019ShakeelaKeNaam!”.

If you missed the first look, here’s a refresher.

Shakeela is a biopic based on the life of well-known Southern actor, Shakeela Khan, who starred in multiple Kannada, Tamil, Telegu and Malayalam films. Her popularity soared after the demise of Silk Smitha, whose biopic also released a few years back, starring Vidya Balan. Though Khan is remembered mostly for her roles in adult films, her big hit Kinnarathumbikal in Malayalam, got her noticed and led to her creating a phenomenal mark in mainstream cinema.

Shakeela has starred in around 250 films till date, many of which have even been translated into foreign languages like Russian, Mandarin, Sinhala, etc. She was defiant against the insults that were targeted towards her religion, skin colour and body shape and interestingly, in the poster, Richa Chadha is standing against the backdrop of a wall where all these insults are scribbled.

Talking about Shakeela, Richa said in a statement: "She was a brave soul who defied norms of the business during her time and her story was much more than what people know of. To essay the role of a living being is additional responsibility on me as actor and team as the makers of the film."

She added: "I'm looking forward to it now that the film has wrapped up for the release next year. We have kept the story to the most authentic version of her real life. Shakeela herself has been pivotal to making this film happen and helping us in in-depth knowledge into her life which has helped us tell the story in its most authentic version possible."

The Indrajit Lankesh film is co-produced by Magic Cinemas and Yoddhas Entertainment. It is slated to release in Summer 2019.
