1. AICWA Calls for Ban on Mika Singh Over Performance in Pakistan

The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has banned singer Mika Singh from the Indian film industry for performing at the wedding of the daughter of a billionaire who is said to be close to the country’s former president General Pervez Musharraf.

AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta issued a letter that reads:

“AICWA bans and boycott singer Mika Singh from the Indian film industry for performing at a high profile event at Karachi dated 8 August, 2019. AICWA takes a tough stand of immediately boycotting all his association with movie production houses, music companies and online music content providers.”

2. Twitter Suspends Hard Kaur’s Account Over Video Abusing Modi, Shah

Day after rapper Hard Kaur posted a video supporting the Khalistan movement and abusing PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, her Twitter account was suspended. In the video, she also promoted her new song titled We Are Warriors endorsing support for a separate Khalistan.

The singer had recently been posting a lot of Pro-Khalistan photos and videos on social media.

3. Delhi HC Allows ‘Batla House’ Release as Makers Agree to Changes

John Abraham starrer Batla House, will be releasing on Independence Day as per schedule, after Delhi High Court gave it a go-ahead subject to some changes. The order passed by a Single Judge Bench of Justice Vibhu Bakhru has stated some modifications and a disclaimer which the makers have agreed to.

The petition against the release of the film was filed by Ariz Khan and Shahzad Ahmed, who are facing trial in the Batla House encounter case. They sought to postpone the release until the trial against them is pending, saying it would affect their right to a free and fair trial.

4. ‘M.O.M’ Teaser: ALTBalaji Maps Mangalyaan’s Journey in New Drama

A day before Akshay Kumar-starrer Mission Mangal hits theatres, ALTBalaji has released a teaser for their upcoming web series – M.O.M - Mission Over Mars. Like the film, the series focuses on the women who were instrumental in launching the Mars Orbiter Mission, or Mangalyaan, India’s first mission to Mars in 2013. It features a cast of familiar faces from television, including Sakshi Tanwar, Mona Singh, Nidhi Singh and Palomi Ghosh, in roles similar to that of their big screen counterparts Vidya Balan, Sonakshi Sinha, Taapsee Pannu and Kirti Kulhari.

5. Model in ‘Teenage Dream’ Accuses Katy Perry of Sexual Misconduct

A model who appeared in Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ music video has accused her of allegedly making inappropriate and non-consensual contact with him at a social event. The model made the accusations ahead of the ninth anniversary of the Teenage Dream album’s release.

The model took to Instagram to write about the harrowing experience. He said that working on the video was “one of the most confusing, assaulting, and belittling jobs I've ever done.”
