A day after Haryana BJP Chief Media Coordinator, Suraj Pal Amu, offered Rs 10 crore to anyone who beheads ‘Padmavati’ director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and its lead actor Deepika Padukone, an FIR has been filed against him by a man from Gurugram.
Amu, on 20 November, lauded a Meerut man’s statement to award Rs 5 crore bounty for beheading Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. He said that the bounty would be doubled to Rs 10 crore. He said that the families of those who did the deed would be taken care of, as he invoked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to strike down the film.
As the boisterous audience egged him on, he quipped:
“Sanjay Leela Bhansali is not worth Rs. 3 crore – where did he get Rs 300 crore? Modi-ji you have to speak,” Amu added, questioning the source of funds for the film.
Haryana’s BJP chief Subhash Barala issued a show cause notice to Amu for his bounty comment. “A show cause notice has been served to him and he has been asked to explain the Rs 10 crore remarks made by him,” Haryana BJP media wing chairman, Rajiv Jain told PTI.
“Vasundhara Raje ji (Rajasthan Chief Minister) says there will have to be cuts in the film. Forget that, we will not let this film run,” Amu declared.
