Introducing debutante, Janhvi Kapoor and featuring Ishaan Khatter, Dhadak, an adaptation of the Marathi blockbuster Sairat has been on a winning streak at the box office. It even surpassed the opening collections of Student of the Year (Rs 8 Cr on Day 1). The Shashank Khaitan directorial collected Rs 8.71 crores on its first day at the box-office, which is highest for a film starring newcomers.
Dhadak has now earned Rs 51.56 crore in India in one week.
It raked in Rs 4.06 cr on Wednesday taking the total to Rs 48.01 cr.
The film earned Rs 4.76 cr on Tuesday taking the total collection to Rs 43.95 crore in five days.
The collection stood at Rs 39.19 cr on Monday.
Dhadak made Rs 13.92 crore on Sunday, bringing it’s weekend collection to a total Rs 33.67 crores.
The film reflected significant growth by day 2, raking in Rs 19.75 crore at the box office.
Produced by Dharma Productions and Zee Studios, critics have slammed the film for nearly expunging caste references which were at the heart of the original directed by Nagraj Manjule but the audiences are lapping it up.
The film was also highly anticipated since its the debut of late Sridevi’s daughter, Janhvi.
