Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal is racing with the action-fantasy film, Baahubali: The Conclusion - to be the top worldwide grosser among Indian films.
According to reports, Dangal has collected Rs 1,418 crore as of Sunday while Baahubali 2 has made Rs 1,538 crore.
Trade analyst Ramesh Bala tweeted the latest figures on Sunday.
However, a straight comparison between the box-office collections of the two films wouldn’t be fair, since Baahubali 2 released on 28 April, while Dangal debuted on 23 December 2016.
A spike in Dangal’s box-office fortunes happened after it released in China recently and amassed an astounding Rs 649.03 crore in just about three weeks, according to Taran Adarsh.
While Baahubali 2 released 4 months after Dangal and yet maintains a comfortable lead over Dangal, it should also be kept in mind that SS Rajamouli’s period fantasy is yet to release in China.
The budget to Baahubali 2 is said to be Rs 250 crore, while Dangal was made on an estimated budget of Rs 70 crore.
