There’s something about a warm Sunday afternoon, lying down in bed with dirt-cheap unhealthy food and watching a good revenge film. No? Just me? Anyway, if you haven’t tried that, you should. Specially now with Amitabh Bachchan’s Badla about to hit the screens, it’s time to get HYPED. Don’t you think? Great, now that we both agree, here’s a list of Bollywood revenge-films I swear by. Binge watch if you know what’s good for you!
This Anushka Sharma starrer will keep you on the edge of your seat - through out the whole film. You will root for Anushka and her slowly dying sense of fear as she is pushed to the edge when she and her boyfriend get themselves into a mess they couldn’t have imagined.
WHO HERE DOES NOT LOOOVE HRITHIK? Well, could be a lot of you, but let’s be honest the man KNOWS how tobe intense. Now Imagine a blind man who is out to get his wife’s rapists. The movie will make your eyes hurt because there’s NO time for blinking.
Who is a mother? Someone who gives birth to a child?
Sridevi in this brilliant film plays mom to Sajal Aly, who isn’t accepting of her new step mom. Things turn even worse one gruesome night when Sajal goes out with friends and everything changes.
“Haider, mera inteqaam lena mere bhai se.”
I swear, Haider is one of the most well-made films I have watched in the last few years. Acting, direction, storyline (thanks Shakespeare) everything has been done to perfection. Based on Hamlet, the film is set in Kashmir and will have you hooked from the first ten minutes.
“Badlapur is for Varun what Haider is for Shahid,” says a comment on YouTube.
Do I agree? A hundred percent. Seeing Varun do all of that magic on screen was frankly shocking. This revenge film is violent to the point of gruesome, so watch if you aren’t faint- hearted!
How could I NOT put this here? This is the OG revenge-thriller, don’t try to argue. Aamir Khan really got all of SHOOK. The story-line is a little confusing and frankly, gets a little frustrating sometimes, but whatever the case, the film manages to grip your attention and how.
A priest, a policeman, a grandfather - three people get together to change what happened 8 years ago. A tragic incident, a lot of adrenaline, and a lack of tolerance. This emotionally charged film with Vidya, Amitabh and Nawaz is EVERYTHING you need this weekend.
A remake of an earlier film starring Amitabh Bachchan, the film follows the struggles of a common man (Hrithik) as he seeks revenge from a man who wrongly framed and murdered his father. This film too will keep you holding your breath, it’s exciting from start to end.
