Ashutosh Gowariker is going to produce a film based on the true success story of Shri Mahila Griha Udyog Lijjat Papad, popularly known as Lijjat Papad. The project will be filmed by Ashutosh’s assistant directors Ankush and Glen.
According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, the movie’s writing team has already been consulting with members of the Indian women’s cooperative.
Lijjat has been described as an organisation “of women, by women and for women.” The unique organisation founded in Mumbai in 1959 now has branches and divisions across the country. Apart from papad, Lijjat also produces appalam, spices, flour and detergents.
Currently, Ashutosh is working on his upcoming directorial venture Panipat, which stars Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon. The period war drama is set for release on 6 December.
