The Kapoor sisters, Sonam and Rhea are facing some trouble with their latest production, the chick flick titled, Veere Di Wedding. The reason for the heat is that their title is similar to another film, Veerey Ki Wedding starring Jimmy Shergill. According to reports, Anil Kapoor has written to the Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPAA), requesting them to intervene in the matter.
While the Kapoors claim to have registered their title first, the director of Veerey Ki Wedding, Ashu Trikha, contests that he had acquired the copyright and trademark rights to use the title first and had it registered it with another association, the Indian Film and TV Producers Council.
Since a registered trademark takes precedence, the decision is reportedly in favour of Ashu Trikha, who has also almost completed his film.
According to DNA, as of now, a senior member of IMPAA suggests that the Kapoors will have to opt for a new title because their project is not yet underway. However, Anil Kapoor has apparently conveyed through his spokesperson that he had registered the title way back in 2015 and will not change it.
Veere Di Wedding earlier got delayed when Kareena Kapoor Khan, who is a pivotal part of the film, became pregnant. The film’s shoot is now slated to begin in May.
