Ahead of the film’s release on 15 August, the makers of Mission Mangal have dropped a new trailer. While the first was celebratory, this version takes a look at the hurdles the team behind ISRO’s 2013 Mars Orbiter Mission – on which the story is based – had to overcome to achieve their dream of reaching the Red Planet.

Take a look:

The trailer opens with Akshay announcing to higher authorities that the team’s initial attempts have failed and offers a look at the moments of frustration and doubt that they experience. Vidya Balan’s character seems to be relentless in her optimism and stands as a voice of reason when Akshay, who appears to be leading the team, veers close to giving up.

Here’s a look at the earlier trailer:

Mission Mangal is inspired by the Indian Space Research Organisation’s (ISRO) Mars Orbiter Mission, aka Mangalyaan, which was launched in 2013 making India the first Asian nation to reach Mars’ orbit and the first in the world to do it in its inaugural try. The film has been directed by Jagan Shakti and stars an ensemble cast of Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Kriti Kulhari and Nithya Menen. It hits theatres on 15 August.
