Bollywood actor Shahid Kapoor, who is on a roll with the success of this year’s Kabir Singh, has bagged the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit Jersey. The Hindi version will be directed by Gowtham Tinnanauri, who also helmed the original movie.
The Telugu version of Jersey revolves around the protagonist named Arjun (played by Nani) a talented but failed cricketer, decides to return to cricket in his late thirties driven by the desire to represent the Indian cricket team and fulfil his son's wish for a jersey as a gift.
On casting Shahid in the lead role, Gowtham had this to say.
The Telugu original released in April this year and stars Nani and Shraddha Srinath. The Hindi remake of Jersey is being produced by Allu Aravind, Aman Gill and Dil Raju. The film is scheduled to release on 28 August, 2020. No female lead has been cast yet.
Shahid was last seen on the big screen in Kabir Singh which as of now is the highest earner of the year. The film was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and also stars Kiara Advani.
