After Javed Akhtar, Sameer Denies Association With Modi Biopic

Lyricist Sameer has also come out to state that he is not a part of ‘PM Narendra Modi’.

After Javed Akhtar denied writing songs for Omung Kumar directorial film PM Narendra Modi, lyricist Sameer has also come out to state that he is not a part of the film.

Akhtar had taken to Twitter and expressed shock to see his name in the credits of the film's trailer.

"After reading his tweet, I called Javed saab to tell him that I too was not approached by the filmmaker or the production house to work on the biopic. I haven't written any song for the movie. I don't understand what they are crediting me for," Sameer told Mid-day.

“Even if the makers have used any of my old songs, the music label should be aware. But in this case, they too are clueless. On my part, I tried calling Omung Kumar and Sandeep Ssingh [producer], but their phones were switched off. What they have done is incorrect. They need to rectify it soon”.

The trailer of PM Narendra Modi - based on the life of India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi - was launched on Thursday.

The film will showcase the journey of Modi from his humble beginnings to his years as the Gujarat Chief Minister, to the landmark win in the 2014 general elections, and finally becoming the PM.

Actor Vivek Anand Oberoi is essaying the role of Modi in the biopic, which is scheduled to release on April 5.

Produced by Suresh Oberoi, Anand Pandit and Sandip Ssingh, PM Narendra Modi also features Darshan Kumaar, Boman Irani, Zarina Wahab and Barkha Bisht Sengupta in pivotal roles.
