The Sunil Grover starrer Coffee With D, which was scheduled to be the first release of 2017, has been postponed. Ever since the release of its first trailer, the film has apparently been on the underworld’s radar. The makers probably didn’t imagine that a comedy referring to the infamous gangster Dawood Ibrahim, would be far from a laughing matter for them.
Producer Vinod Ramani, Director Vishal Mishra and Sunil Grover have been receiving anonymous calls, threatening them with dire consequences, if references to underworld don Dawood Ibrahim are not removed from the film. The filmmakers have approached the Delhi Police seeking action against the callers.

In all likelihood, these calls could be the reason behind the delay in the film’s release date, but director Vishal Mishra remains reticent when it comes to revealing the more details.
Producer Vinod Ramani and director Vishal Mishra have reportedly filed a complaint against getting repeated threat calls from underworld gangster Chhota Shakeel's aids, asking the makers to either delete the portions that make fun of Don D, or not releasing the film at all.
While the film has been given a clean chit from the CBFC after minor edits, we wonder if the underworld will have such a strong say in the destiny of this film. Wouldn’t it have been great if Don D had a sense of humour too?
