At 75, with a new release just behind him and other films under production, one would imagine that Amitabh Bachchan would be a busy man. Surprisingly though, Bachchan senior seems obsessively pre-occupied with something most of us would consider mundane - the number of followers he has on Twitter! His ongoing spat with the officials of the social networking service has already made news. Now, the superstar has got touchy about a report by a news media which stated that many followers of celebrities on social media are fake.
“GOODNESS...! Thats a lot of research done by the media..!!” tweeted the cinema icon sarcastically after posting screenshots of the newspaper report.
And if you’re interested, this tweet was made at 1.02 am past midnight!
Bachchan currently has 34.4 million followers on Twitter. The report claims that according to an online tool called Twitter audit, only 62% of the senior actor’s followers are real.
Back in February, Amitabh Bachchan had threatened to quit Twitter because he suspected that his followers had been drastically reduced. Here’s what the actor had tweeted then:
In the month of May, Bachchan has been repeatedly questioning the guys at Twitter as to why his followers are not increasing despite him being so active on the social media site. Yes, he really did ask this... not once...
BUT TWICE...!
Well, it’s not as if the team at Twitter is not hearing the superstar’s pleas. Back in February, after Bachchan threatened to leave Twitter for “other fish in the sea”, a bunch of officials from Twitter visited the actor on his sets to explain how the social networking site works.
It sure looks like the team at Twitter needs to schedule another appointment with Amitabh Bachchan real soon. Else, his followers are going to be constantly bombarded with these “@Twitter I Hope You Understand” Memes.
Dear Folks at Twitter, fix an appointment with Bachchan, real soon!
