Akshay Kumar and his sister Alka Bhatia have a different understanding of the role of a brother and the concept of Raksha Bandhan. In a video, the actor’s sister spoke about what her brother taught her about “raksha”.
While growing up, Akshay made it clear to his sister that rather than protecting her, he wanted her to take care of herself. Alka spoke about growing up with a brother who empowered her with his stubborn streak. Take a look:
“Mummy-Daddy would insist that if I had to stay out late or attend a late night party then I'd have to ask Raju to accompany me. He would never go with me and always say, 'You have to take care of your own safety.' And I would be like, 'Why?'” I realized the value of his words when I sent my daughter to study abroad. When she asked me if 'Everything will be okay,' I replied, like Raju, 'Everything will be fine, just take care of your own safety'," she said in the video.
