Actor Ajith Kumar’s much anticipated 56th film has been officially titled Vedalam. Minutes after the makers announced the title and released the first look poster on Thursday; it started trending on social media platforms.

In the poster, Ajith is seen sporting a red kurta with folded sleeves, short-trimmed salt-and-pepper hair to go with his stubble, metal bracelet and thick chain around his neck. He also sports a big, steel earring. Interestingly, Ajith’s look in the film is an updated version of his own avatar from his 2002 film, Red.

The title, according to a source, exactly means poltergeist, and this gives one the feeling that the film may have a ghost connect. But refuting such rumours, the source added that the title also means someone who is remarkably unique and invincible.

Directed by Siva, who previously made Veeram with Ajith, the film also stars Shruti Haasan, and she reportedly plays a taxi driver in Kolkata. Actors Lakshmi Menon, Rahul Dev and Kabir Duhan Singh will be seen essaying important roles. It was also revealed via the poster that the film will hit the marquee this Diwali. The team is currently wrapping up the final schedule of the film in Chennai.
