After the release of Sarbjit, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan who plays Dalbir Kaur in the film, took time out for a special Q&A with fans on Twitter. No wonder #AskAishwarya was trending! Believe it or not but hubby Abhishek Bachchan, co-star Richa Chadha and producer Jackky Bhagnani also had questions for the Sarbjit star.
Abhishek asked Aishwarya what kept her smiling through such an emotionally draining film. Even though she had a tough time answering this one on a public platform, her reply will melt your heart.
Trust you asking me this question Abhishek. That’s life, no? I can’t answer this to you in public, but that’s life. We’re grateful to god that our life gives us enough reason to smile and that’s reason aplenty. There’s our little Aaradhya, our angel.

When producer Jackky Bhagnani asked Ash who her biggest inspiration is, she said it’s her mother, Brinda and her little 4 year old daughter Aaradhya.
In terms of who is my biggest inspiration, as a lady my mother, and today, believe you me, even my daughter.

Richa Chadha asked her Sarbjit co-star about the goodness of gud or jaggery, and also if she misses it from the film’s Punjab schedule. Aishwarya admits to all the binge-eating she did during the Punjab schedule and her love for Punjabi food.
Seriously Richa? Is that the question you’re asking me after we have binged in Punjab because we enjoy Punjabi food? Gud is good and ya, we binged on gud parathas. Nice memories.

A fan then asked Ash how she feels about being called ‘sister India’ equating it to Mother India, a rather humbling question.
Thank you in all humility. The idea is to evoke that emotion within each of us. We already feel fraternally very strongly, just evoke it, awaken it.

Aishwarya also stressed on how much she believed in the story of Sarbjit, which she feels needs to be told to the audiences across the country.
I’ve answered in depth about the reason why I chose Sarbjit, but I belive this story needs to be told and I believe this movie deserves an audience. As an Indian, as a family member, if you’re emotionally connected with your roots, with life itself, you will find connectivity with this movie. So go watch.

Another fan asked the actor about how she prepared for her role and Aishwarya said that she simply followed her instincts because the film’s script is very strong.
Very honestly, Dalbir ji was not a study, it didn’t have a major plan behind it, it was more instinctive and the writing is so strong that the entire premise of the narrative itself seemed to provide ample opportunity for one to be able to just perform straight from the soul, and that’s what I’ve done.
