The team behind MS Dhoni: The Untold Story has more reason to celebrate. After Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh, now the Maharashtra government has declared the biopic tax-free in the state. This would mean that ticket prices for the film will drop from tomorrow (Friday) onwards since the entertainment tax levied by the state government will be waived off. Fox Star Studios tweeted their thanks to Maharashtra CM, Devendra Fadnavis for the gesture.
The biopic on MS Dhoni directed by Neeraj Pandey was declared tax-free in the cricketer’s home state Jharkhand even before the film’s release. The Uttar Pradesh government followed suit by giving the film a tax-free status on October 1.
A tax-free label might just help in bump up ticket sales in these states with repeat viewers getting an incentive to return to theatres.
