The First ‘PadMan’ Song Is About the Magic of Mundane Romance

The Virushka wedding mania has seized the nation and this season of wedlocks also finds evocation in the new PadMan song, as it begins with the characters essayed by Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte tying the knot.
Sung by Arijit Singh, Aaj Se Teri then charts the course of their romance as they navigate their new life and relationship with a mix of tentativeness and excitement. The song is about blissful domesticity.
But this is no Tuscan romance, instead it’s a rustic one. Lyricist Kausar Munir weaves mundane moments in his song that reaffirm PadMan’s credentials as a small town film with universal resonance. After belting out some repetitive and forgettable tracks recently, Amit Trivedi’s music seems to exude a fresh sensibility and melody.
A biopic on Arunachalam Muruganantham, the inventor of a low-cost sanitary pad making machine in India, the R. Balki directorial PadMan is an adaptation of a short story written by Twinkle Khanna in her second book The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad. It deals with a subject that is still, largely, not discussed openly - menstruation.
Sonam Kapoor also briefly appears in the song before the end.
