The video is about to hit 4 million views on YouTube in just 3 days and let’s be honest, Ranveer Ching Returns is outrageously mounted by normal standards for any TV commercial. Featuring Ranveer Singh and Tamannaah in a dystopian land that looks clearly inspired by Mad Max: Fury Road - the video has all its characters high on extra hot schezwan sauce.
Here are some interesting bits about Ranveer Ching Returns that the makers shared with us:
Well, the idea for the original music video My Name Is Ranveer Ching came from the actor himself and after the video became hugely popular, the makers decided to mount second project as a full fledged film itself. YashRaj Films’ Talent team suggested that they bring in the biggest Bollywood director to execute the vision - and so Rohit Shetty was roped in.
Ranveer jumped in at the idea of playing the mom - Maa Ching in the video, and as Ajay Gupta, Managing Director, Capital Foods puts it, “Humne Ranveer Singh ko maa bana diya.”
The makers aren’t revealing what the video eventually cost them yet. But the monies involved in bringing together the talent (Ranveer Singh, Tamannaah, Pradeep - who plays the villain Chu), the production, the multiple language dubs, edits, trailer, promos, making of, promotional time from the artistes - would total to the average budget of a mid-sized Bollywood film.
The shoot for the video went on for 4 days at Hyderabad’s Ramoji Rao Film City. Considering that they wrapped up 2 fight sequences, 1 dance video, all the dialogue scenes, the Maa Ching intro among other shots - it sure seems to have been one hectic production schedule. Insiders say they were shooting for 16-18 hours on average every day.
This is the first time that Ranveer Singh and Tamannaah worked together and they bonded well over their Sindhi connection. Apart from desi chinese and Sindhi food, their love for dancing seems to have added to the couple’s chemistry.
The film was shot in March this year in Hyderabad while it was blazing at over 42 degrees outside. The Bajirao actor was fitted from top to bottom in leather pants and jacket, so Ranveer had to literally sweat it out for this one.
