After Landslide Win in AP, YSRC Chief Reddy Meets PM Modi in Delhi
Reddy’s party won 151 of 175 seats in AP, decimating Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to 23 seats.

After a landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh, YSRC Chief and Chief Minister-designate Jagan Mohan Reddy met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his residence in Delhi on Sunday, 26 May. Reddy also met BJP President Amit Shah.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Reddy said that the situation would have been different if the BJP would have got 250 seats.
“We would have then supported BJP only after they signed the Special Category Status document. If the BJP would've been limited to 250 seats, we wouldn't have had to depend so much on the central govt. But now, they don't need us. We did what we could do and told him of our situation,” Reddy said.
Reddy has also sought financial help for Andhra Pradesh, which is under debt of Rs 2.58 lakh crore.
Reddy’s party won 151 of 175 seats in Andhra Pradesh, decimating Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to 23 seats. YSRC has also bagged 22 of the 25 seats in Lok Sabha from the state.
According to media reports, Reddy has invited Modi to attend his swearing-in ceremony which will be held on 30 May at Indira Gandhi Municipal Corporation stadium in Vijayawada.
Speaking to Hindustan Times, a YSRC leader said that it’s a courtesy call but Reddy will also apprise the prime minister of the problems the new government is facing in the state.
The meeting assumes importance as the YSRCP chief during the election campaign had said that his party would support whoever promises Andhra Pradesh the Special Category Status.
According to news agency PTI, the YSRCP chief will is expected to interact with Andhra Bhawan officials after meeting Modi.
