Seems like BJP is not ready to let go of the Chowkidar rage. The party, in fact, is cashing in on the slogan by selling ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar’ t-shirts. And Prime Minister Narendra Modi is enthusiastically promoting the merchandise. On 24 March, Modi retweeted a post by NaMoMerchandise that advertised ‘Main Bhi Chowkidar t-shirts. He said, “The #MainBhiChowkidar programme on 31st will look even better with the attractive merchandise.”

The post received a lot of flak and sarcasm on Twitter. Asaduddin Owaisi tweeted that Modi is “the first PM to have used his constitutional post to peddle t-shirts.”

First Dreams, Now T-Shirts

Some said he is a man of misplaced priorities and opportunities. “Five years ago our PM sold us dreams. He is now selling us T-shirts,” said Twitter.

PM To Chowkidar To Salesman?

Some Twitter users said the prime minister was acting like a salesman.

“He is a salesman wanting to be PM again,”said one Twitter user.

This is the first time a prime minister is selling merchandise on Twitter, commented some Twitter users, calling it a ‘national embarrassment’.
