Congress President Rahul Gandhi, who was on a two-day tour of Kerala on 16 and 17 April, launched a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saying all that he does is “tell lies and steal from the poor people”.
The Congress president addressed three election rallies in Wayanad, the second constituency from where he is contesting apart from Amethi, and campaigned in Thirthala in Palakkad district.
Gandhi said the saffron party was only interested in imposing its ideology on the people of the country, adding that the issues of Kerala should be decided by the people of the state and not by Modi or the RSS chief.
He also met Sreedhanya Suresh – the first tribal woman from Kerala to clear the civil services exams.

Rahul will start his campaign in Kerala, in the Mavelikkara constituency in Alappuzha district on Tuesday morning, reported The News Minute.
After Mavelikkara, Rahul will campaign in Pathanapuram, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram. Anto Antony, Shanimol Usman and Shashi Tharoor are respectively the candidates for the UDF in these constituencies.
Rahul Gandhi will campaign in Wayanad, his second constituency apart from Amethi, on 17 April.

The Congress President kicked off his poll campaign in Kerala, addressing a rally at Pathanapuram.
Addressing a rally at Pathanapuram in Kerala, Rahul Gandhi said he chose to contest from Kerala because of the state’s history of tolerance and inclusiveness.
Speaking at the rally, Rahul said: “Because I wanted to give a message that India is not just one perspective, India is not just one idea, India is million and millions of different viewpoints, different perspectives and all of those are important to us.”
Referring to the BJP and RSS, Gandhi said, “No matter how many times you ) attack us, we will use love and non violence to convince you are wrong".
Speaking at Pathanapuram, Rahul Gandhi said he decided to transfer the money of NYAY scheme to women’s accounts as they are better at managing accounts and think about long-term investments.
Addressing an election rally at the St Stephen college grounds district, Congress President Rahul Gandhi said India should be ruled by people of the country and not just one ideology or person.
"Currently our country is under attack by the BJP and the RSS. They want to suppress all voices other than their own. They believe that only one idea should rule India while we believe that the people should rule India.
“We do not believe that India should be ruled by one person. They say if we do not believe in their ideas we will destroy you,” the Congress President said.
"Prime Minister said Congrees Mukt Bharat. That means they will erase the idea of Congress in India. But what we are saying is that we do not agree with you,” he said.
Rahul Gandhi was addressing a rally in Alappuzha in Kerala when he attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making a deal with Malaysia concerning rubber business without consulting the traders of rubber in Kerala.
He said, "We promised a separate budget for farmers in our manifesto. This will tell upfront what we will do for the farmers of rubber industry."
Gandhi also said that the prime minister has reduced the budget in education. "This is shameful. We have decided to spend 6 percent of the GDP on education."
Congress President and Wayanad candidate Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday offered prayers at Thirunelli temple in Wayanad.
Rahul Gandhi attended co-ordination meeting of three parliamentary constituencies of Kannur, Kasaragod and Vadakara during his campaign.
Speaking at a rally in Wayanad, Rahul Gandhi said: “I've not come here as a politician who is going to tell you what to do or what I think. I'm not here to tell you my 'Mann ki baat', I'm here to understand what is inside your heart, your soul.”
Rahul Gandhi, while speaking at Wayanad said that he won’t be visiting Wayanad for a couple of months but wants a life long relationship, news agency ANI reported.
“ I'm not like PM of India, I'll not come here and lie to you because I respect your intelligence, wisdom and understanding. I don't want to have a relationship of couple of months with you, I want to have a life long relationship with you,” he said.
Hitting out at the Prime Minister, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday alleged that Narendra Modi has "divided" the country and made it fight within itself, reported news agency PTI.
"Narendra Modi divided the country and made the country fight within itself. The most anti-national thing to be done in this country today is creating a situation by which 27,000 youngsters are losing their job every 24 hours,”he said.
During his campaign trail in Kerala, Congress President Rahul Gandhi visited Thirunelli temple in Wayanad where his father Rajeev Gandhi’s ashes were immersed.
“Standing besides the Papanasini, where my father’s ashes were immersed in 1991, brought back fond memories of him & our time together,” he said in a tweet.
Speaking at a rally in Kerala, Rahul Gandhi said: “We're fighting the ideology of BJP-RSS who try to impose their views across India but it's important that every voice is heard.”
Congress chief Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday met Sreedhanya Suresh, the first tribal woman from Kerala to clear the all India civil services exams, and was all praise for her.
He met her at the guest house at Sulthan Bathery at Wayanad and had lunch with her.
Addressing an election rally in Thiruvammbady in Wayanad district, Gandhi said the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MNAREGS), the Congress's pet project, had helped the 22-year-old woman make it to the civil services as her parents, who are workers, had benefited from the scheme.
Hailing from a poor background in Wayanad, Sreedhanya had bagged the 410th rank in the Civil Services Examination, 2018.
